It also helps that they have an international award-winning winemaker! I was first introduced to their Cabernet Franc in 2018 - which I had to buy through an auction house - and was blown away. Easily top 5 Cabernet Franc I've ever tasted. Their wines are refined and their vibe is modern-chic, with a laid-back Australian (!) attitude"

Brecon is a boutique winery nestled in the rolling westside hills outside of Paso Robles. With an international award-winning winemaker, they strive to produce exquisite and inviting wines. Their wines are small batch ferments. Each has an individual story to tell and is sold exclusively through their tasting room. 

Winemaker Alex Kemp and GM Rachael Fisher are coming down from Paso Robles to tell stories and taste us through 5 of their award-winning, high scoring, tough to get wines. 

THE WINES

2023 Brecon Estate Albariño / 93 pts / Retail $43

Prepare to be pleasantly surprised by this Albariño. It's a game-changer, capable of charming even the most devoted red wine enthusiasts. Originating from the vineyards that propelled Brecon to Albariño stardom. True to its varietal, it's a citrusy delight dominated by fresh lime flavors. Refreshing yet surprisingly rich, it finishes with a soft, biscuity toastiness akin to a fine champagne.

2021 Brecon Estate Meritage / 91 pts / Retail $72

Every year, our Meritage blend differs which makes our wine lively, integrated, and organoleptically interesting. Like a mad scientist, mixing components, or a meticulous crockpot meal with various ingredients–our winemaker has done it again! Careful tannin management and oak integration has created a wine worth writing poetry for.  

2022 Brecon Estate ZInfandel / 96 pts / Retail $69

Brecon has always crafted quintessentially food-friendly Zinfandels. We do that by solely using hilltop Zins from the local “hood” which give wonderfully concentrated, balanced fruit with well-integrated acids. Lively and manifestly brighter, rather than jammy, with an intriguing spice layer, soft tannins, and underlying mixed white/black pepper notes. All while the interplay of fine American and French oaks provide a subtle, refined, seamless framework.

2021 Reserve Cabernet Franc / 96 pts / Retail $94

Extremely limited production at 900 cases annually.

Shh, better be quiet around them… these old vines sure do hold 50 years of secrets. In the ferment it has a strong aromatic tea-leafy character, akin to an English Breakfast or perhaps an Assam. This eventually fades and fully integrates itself into the wine adding even more complexity. It does however take a little longer than your average cuppa to brew; twenty months in fine French barriques plus a minimum of seven months bottle age before release.

We will will have a private tasting in the patio at Cabana restaurant in Laguna Beach in their patio. 

Full restaurant menu is available for you to purchase from throughout the event. Laguna can be chilly, bring a jacket!
