VINOPOP Presents: Venge Vineyards

40 Years of Winemaking & Farming in Napa Valley's Oakville & Calistoga.

Anthony Rios is making his way down from Napa Valley to host his 1st VINOPOP! About 3 months ago we held a blind tasting with VINOPOP members to determine if certain wineries would be ones our community would want to taste and experience. The tasting notes from our blindtasting spoke loudly - we had to have Venge down here for the community. 

The Venge family started back in the '70s when Nils Venge became the first American winemaker to achieve a perfect 100pt score for his Cabernet Sauvignon. The family’s viticultural roots flourished in 1976 with the purchase of a 17-acre vineyard in the Oakville District. Today Nils' son, winemaker and owner of Venge Kirk Venge continues the Napa Valley heritage, focusing on select vineyard sites that produce fruit worthy of bearing the Venge family name.

Anthony is doing a very special tasting for us with their limited, most member only, powerful, elegant and vineyard driven wines. 

You'll be tasting a total of 5 wines! 

‘22 Brown Ranch Chardonnay ($60)

The Brown Ranch’s hillside alluvial soils, with Dijon Clone 76 set atop pre-existing rootstock produce a freshly balanced, light, pale straw presence in the glass with a bouquet of fresh orange citrus, toasted pine nuts, mild allspice, rocky flints, and toasted oak. 

‘22 Signal Fire Zinfandel ($75)

The Signal Fire Vineyard emerges from an 8-acre, old gnarly-vine parcel of Zinfandel in Calistoga. This is a spectacular, full throttle Zinfandel--rich!

‘21 Stagecoach Vineyard Syrah ($70)

The Syrahs from this mountain vineyard really shine from the steep, rocky terroir of the location. The palate shows superior promise with minerals, tongue swirling acidity, cherry and black plum.

‘21 Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ($125)

‘21 Bone Ash Cabernet ($145)

Estate “Bone Ash Vineyard” is their second of three estate vineyards owned and farmed in Napa Valley. Much like their Oakville Estate and Calistoga Estate Signal Fire Vineyard, the vines are dry-farmed, or nearly so, with vine age averaging 30+ years.
