The Concept

KRISTIE TACEY, the Winemaker

Kristie Tacey, winemaker and founder of Tessier Winery, is a scientist turned winemaker. 

A former published research scientist who studied protein pathways, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from her native Michigan to pursue a career in biotechnology, which included working on the Human Genome Project. She uses minimal-interventionist winemaking techniques to showcase the unique characteristics of the grapes and the vineyards. For Kristie, sustainability is a priority — not only with the vineyards’ farming practices, but also by having long-term relationships with her growers and customers. These small production wines, an annual production of 1400 cases, get unparalleled attention.

She also loves music and has been pairing some of her favorite songs with each wine that she bottles.

KATHY LAJVARDI, the Artist

Kathy Lajvardi is a contemporary mixed media artist based in Laguna Beach, Ca. After earning a B.F.A. from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, Kathy’s professional career took her through the world of advertising, film, and entertainment. Over the last two decades she has received more than 20 awards for design and art direction. Her work includes concert graphics for Madonna & Beyonce, commercial graphics for Lexus, Disney, Apple, and movie graphics for Iron Man and Transformers. She has Illustrated a series of wine books, designed the interior of homes, and curated in-person events. 

THE WINES

2022 ELECTRIC LADYLAND 

Orange blend, California, sustainably farmed, a blend of six grapes, all ranging in skin-contact, and a tribute to Jimi Hendrix.

2022 FEMME FATALE ROSE 

Aromas of raspberry cotton candy, watermelon rind, white lily. On the palate wet stone and tangerine pith. Good acid with slight fizz

2022 SOUL LOVE (retail $30)

Chillable red blend, California, sustainably farmed, The Fourth release of Soul Love, our “glou glou” is a tribute to David Bowie and the ideal picnic wine

2021 SAVERIA VINEYARD PINOT NOIR  

From a privately owned vineyard, farmed and managed by Prudy Foxx. Burgundy red color with magenta hues. Aromas of Pomegranate, strawberry, cranberry along with bay leaves and fennel pollen. Soft tannins.

2019 CAMINO ALTO CABERNET FRANC  

Black cherry, charred eggplant along with ripe raspberry are the first to attack. As you settle in, more subtle notes reveal themselves, such as violets, powdered sugar, spruce needles and freshly roasted coffee beans
