We're excited to have Jeff Strekas from ONX Wines come visit us and share his passion for wine. After abandoning his initial stint as a biochemist, he found his true love in winemaking. His well rounded journey includes placements at Merryvale Vineyards in St Helena, Franciscan Estate in Rutherford, Mollydooker in McLaren Vale, Australia, and Round Pond Estate in Rutherford.
Given that he lists his heroes as Statler and Waldorf (from the Muppet Show), Dr. Bruce Banner (aka the Incredible Hulk), and Captain Quint (from Jaws), it is no surprise that Jeff found his way to Paso Robles, instead of rooting himself in a more traditional wine region, and has been part of the ONX Team for over 10 years.

The onyx calcite hiding within the soil of ONX Estate Vineyards, as with their grapes, reflects uniquely elegant character once plucked from the rough and polished. That character is further improved by our constant pursuit of balance in our vineyard. As a certified California Sustainable Vineyard, they are committed to a sustainable relationship with nature and believe in leaving things better than we found them.
These principles has resulted in truly exceptional wines. Rocks and dirt. Vines and grapes. Effort and art.

'22 Tracing Paper Rosé of Tempranillo
White peach and juicy pineapple coupled with honeysuckle. Reminiscent of the orange blossom essence that defines the citrus groves in Southern California, the wine hits the palate softly with less acid and more flavor focus.
'21 L’Autre Femme Wine Enthusiast 92pts
Picpoul Blanc & Viognier
100% estate-sourced grapes. It's a sensuous and rounded white wine. Viognier provides a pleasing elaboration of fruitful and floral characteristics that prove to layer the wine with intriguing wrinkles and some additional weight on the palate.

'19 Caliber Wine Enthusiast – 90pts
Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot
Templeton Gap Cabernet is a wine unto its own with Bordeaux type earthiness, spice, and ageability, but with plush, full tannin structure and depth that only California can provide. Firm tannins, new French Oak with a little blending of Malbec and Petit Verdot add additional layers and structure.

'19 Reckoning Wine Enthusiast - 95pts
Syrah, Petite Sirah, Malbec, Grenache
This 2019 really shows what Syrah is capable of in the Templeton Gap. The wine begins fruitful and lively with cranberry juice and passion fruit with additional violets that translate from nose to palate beautifully. The core is earthy and spicy with notes of clove and allspice with a sweet undercurrent of dark chocolate and red currants.
2014 Post Script
Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier
Turkish apricots, Ceylon ginger, Madagascar vanilla bean, and Persian saffron all arise from the bouquet, followed by beautiful floral notes of lilac and oleander emerge. On the palate, rounded, indulgent notes of caramel and crème brûlée are on display.
